Q. Do you give your cows antibiotics?
A. Our milk has no added antibiotics. We do not give antibiotics to healthy cows. Our cows receive regular checkups
and treatment from veterinarians. When one of our cows gets sick, the cow is removed from production where a
veterinarian may give it antibiotics to help it get better. Once the cow is deemed healthy by the veterinarian, the cow
is not returned to production until tests indicate it is free of the antibiotics it was given.”
Q. Are your milk cartons recyclable?
A. Milk cartons are recyclable, but currently not all recycling collection services accept them. The number of areas
that accept milk cartons for recycling is increasing each year. Your recycling collection service can tell you if they
accept milk cartons. We have been informed that Seattle Public Utilities accepts rinsed milk cartons for recycling.
Q. Is Smith Brothers milk free of artificial growth hormones?
A. Yes, our milk is free of artificial (recombinant) growth hormones. All of our milk comes from our own cows so we
can guarantee none of them are treated with any artificial growth hormones (rBST).
Q. Where does Smith Brothers milk come from?
A. 100% of our milk comes from our own cows. By owning our own cows we can ensure we give them the best care
possible and in return they give us great tasting milk.
Q. Does Smith Brothers Farms charge a delivery charge?
A. No, Smith Brothers milkmen only charge you for the products that you order.
Q. Why doesn't Smith Brothers post their prices on the web
site?
A. All of our home delivery milkmen are independent distributors who purchase our products and set their own retail
prices, which are competitive with the grocery stores in their areas. Each milkman has his own price list.
Q. Is Smith Brothers milk considered organic?
A. No, our milk is not considered organic because we do not grow our own feed. We feed our cows Grade A grains and
grasses which we purchase from local farmers. We also do not in any way use irradiation, sewage sludge or genetically
modified organisms in the production of our products.
Q. What if I am not home when the milk is delivered?
A. Your Smith Brothers milkman will provide you with an insulated porch box that will keep your milk cool. Some
customers put blue ice in their boxes to help keep the milk cool, especially in the summer months.
Q. How will my milkman know what to deliver to my home each
delivery?
A. Most customers have a regular standing order that is brought to them each delivery. If you need to change/add to
your order, you can either call your milkman in advance or leave your milkman a note in your porch box.
Q. How often can I get milk delivered?
A. Depending on your area you can receive delivery either once or twice a week.
Q. How will I be billed for my milk delivery?
A. Most of our milkmen will leave you a bill in your porch box the first delivery of the month for the previous
month. There are some milkmen who will bill every two weeks and some that accept COD only.
Q. What if I have a question on my bill?
A. All of our home delivery milkmen are independent distributors. They handle and maintain all of the billing for
their own customers. If a question arises you can either contact your milkman by phone or leave a note in your porch
box.
Q. How do I order extra products?
A. Your milkman can supply you with "extra order slips" that list most of the items we carry. Then you can either
leave the slip in your porch box or call ahead to ensure your milkman will have the extra items for you.
NOTE: Not all Smith Brothers Milkmen carry the full line of products on their trucks. For a complete
list of products available for delivery and prices, ask your milkman.
Q. Is it true, milk in clear plastic containers is not as
nutritional as milk in a paper carton?
A. Yes, scientific studies have shown that milk exposed to light in clear plastic containers can destroy most of the
milk's vitamin C and half of the riboflavin. The clear plastic containers also tend to give the milk a flat oxidized
flavor. Paper cartons block out 96% of the light with no flavor change. That is why Smith Brothers packages it's milk
and dairy products in paper cartons. This will ensure that no nutritional value will be lost from the light and the
flavor of the milk is not affected.

in your area. You can sign-up by email in the "Home Delivery
Sign-Up" section of this web site.
Q. Does Smith Brothers package their milk in glass bottles?
A. No, we quit packaging in glass bottles several years ago. Smith Brothers Farms packages their products in paper
cartons and on request in gallon plastic jugs.
Q. Does Smith Brothers just deliver dairy products?
A. No, in addition to a wide range of dairy products Smith Brothers also offers a variety of other products
including farm fresh eggs, Tully's Coffee, English Bay cookie dough, and concentrated laundry soap. In many homes both
parents work and the convenience of home delivered products eliminates the daily trip to the grocery store. Information
